The oldest application server around, it allows for robust, Java based web applications using a tag-based syntax geared towards rapid development. This isn’t to say that it is simple: it has all of the enterprise capabilities you’ll find in other languages and technologies, while allowing for lower cost and faster time to market.

Microsoft’s platform for building web applications, with deep integration into the other Microsoft server products and the .NET Framework.

The most popular platform for building web applications. Provides the rich feature set of commercial languages while providing low cost and extensibility due to being open source.

SQL Server

Microsoft’s robust database server

MySQL

Open source answer to commercial databases. Parent company is Oracle, maker of one of the most powerful database servers available.

jQuery

The most popular and robust JavaScript library, allowing the design and implementation of rich Web 2.0 applications.
